29、 data used in data exchanges.Master data profiles define the specific semantics of exchanged master data information,such as enumeration values,transactions,property IDs,and property ranges that would be applied to an integration project.The intent of the profiles is to:a)provide context on the sema

30、ntical content of transactions and messages between two or moreapplications.b)allow software vendors to use the information in the master data profile to interact with othersystems that have implemented the same master data profile.c)provide the basis for a technical implementation of master data pr

31、ofiles,using a machine-readable language such as XML and JSON.Master data profiles could be generated within a company for specific projects,across companies in a supply chain,or within an industry segment.Business situations can change,thus requiring master data profiles to be revised or replaced.T

32、herefore,it is necessary to implement mechanisms that allow for extending or revising master profiles.A master data profile defines the restrictions on the content of the master data information that could be sent by an application,and places restrictions on the content of master data information th

34、5.01-2018 1 Scope This technical report describes a template for exchange of ISA-95 master data.Master data profiles are used to describe the semantical rules that an application,involved in integration using ISA-95 defined objects and transactions,will accept and/or will generate.The goal is to red

40、specification of semantical rules A profile defines the semantical rules to be applied to information exchanged between applications and systems.The syntactical rules are defined by the implementations of the ISA-95 information exchange standards,such as those specified in XML,JSON,SOL,or other tech

41、nologies.These implementations specify the structure of the data.A master data profile specifies the identifiers,enumerations,and other information that make up valid values for exchanged information.NOTE The term semantics refers to the meaning of information rather than the form of the information

42、(syntax).4.2 Profile template and profile use The master data profile template defines the structure for creating a specific master data profile.Profiles could be generated within a company for specific projects,across companies in a supply chain,or within an industry segment.A master data profile d

43、efines the restrictions on the content of the information that could be sent by an application,and places restrictions on the content of information that will be accepted by an application.Figure 1 illustrates the use of a master data profile template.a)The master data profile template is used to cr

48、e use 4.3 Use of a profile in applications Applications using a master data profile may not handle all of the information defined in the profile.EXAMPLE 1 If an application does not maintain information about materials,then it would ignore information in the profile dealing with material classes and

49、 material definitions.EXAMPLE 2 If an application does not handle operational locations,then it would ignore information in the profile dealing with operational locations.A master data profile may include information that is not directly used by an application but is intended for assistance in the c

50、onfiguration of the application.Because not all information required for correct operation of the application may be available from the master data profile,there may be an engineering effort to complete the application configuration.EXAMPLE 3 An application may need to have special handling rules en
