The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization. Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an International Standard requires approval by at least75% of the member bodies casting a vote. ISO6196-3 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC171, Document imaging applications, Subcommittee SC3, General issues. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO6196-3:1983), of which it constitutes a technical revision. ISO6196 consists of the following parts, under the general title Micrographics — Vocabulary: — Part01: General terms; — Part02: Image positions and methods of recording; — Part03: Film processing; — Part04: Materials and packaging; — Part05: Quality of images, legibility, inspection; — Part06: Equipment; — Part07: Computer micrographics; — Part08: Use. These exchanges often become difficult, either because of the great variety of terms used in various fields or languages to express the same concept, or because of the absence or imprecision of the definitions of useful concepts. To avoid misunderstandings and to facilitate such exchanges it is essential to clarify the concepts, to select terms to be used in various languages or in various countries to express the same concept, and to establish definitions providing satisfactory equivalents for the various terms in different languages. The purpose of ISO6196 is to provide definitions that are rigorous, uncomplicated and which can be understood by all concerned. The scope of each concept defined has been chosen to provide a definition that is suitable for general application. In those circumstances, where a restricted application is concerned, the definition may need to be more specific. However, while it is possible to maintain the self-consistency of this individual standard, the reader is warned that the dynamics of language and the problems associated with the standardization and maintenance of vocabularies may introduce duplications and inconsistencies among other standards.BSISO 6196-3:1997 2 © BSI 04-1999BSISO 6196-3:1997 © BSI 04-1999 3BSISO 6196-3:1997 4 © BSI 04-1999BSISO 6196-3:1997 © BSI 04-1999 5BSISO 6196-3:1997 6 © BSI 04-1999BSISO 6196-3:1997 © BSI 04-1999 7BSISO 6196-3:1997 8 © BSI 04-1999BSISO 6196-3:1997 © BSI 04-1999 9BSISO 6196-3:1997 10 © BSI 04-1999BSISO 6196-3:1997 © BSI 04-1999 11 Alphabetical index A activator 03.12 B bath 03.07 bleaching 03.21 bleaching/fixing 03.22 C clearing 03.15/16 (colour) coupler 03.19 colour processing 03.04 conventional processing 03.02 coupler 03.19 coupling agent 03.19 D developer 03.10 developing agent 03.11 development 03.09 diazo coupler 03.20 diazo film 04.06 dry processing 03.06 drying 03.18 E exposure 01.12 F film 04.03 (film) processing 03.01 fixer 03.14 fixing 03.13 full reversal processing 03.03.01 I image 01.06 P partial reversal processing 03.03.02 photosensitive layer 04.02 polarity 01.11 processing 03.01 R reversal processing 03.03 S silver film 04.04 stabilization 03.15 stop bath 03.08 W washing 03.17 wet processing 03.05BSISO 6196-3:1997 12 © BSI 04-1999 Index alphabétique A activateur 03.12 B bain 03.07 bain d’arrêt 03.08 blanchiment 03.21 blanchiment/fixage 03.22 C copulant 03.20 couche photosensible 04.02 coupler 03.19 D développateur 03.11 développement 03.09 E exposition 01.12 F film argentique 04.04 film diazoïque 04.06 film vésiculaire 04.07 fixage 03.13 fixateur 03.14 I image 01.06 image latente 01.08 L lavage 03.17 O original 01.04 P polarité 01.11 R révélateur 03.10 S séchage 03.18 stabilisation 03.15/16 T traitement (photographique) 03.01 traitement à sec 03.06 traitement couleur 03.04 traitement d’inversion complet 03.03.01 traitement d’inversion par reste 03.03 traitement d’inversion partiel 03.03.02 traitement humide 03.05 traitement inversible 03.03 traitement négatif 03.02 traitement semi-inversible 03.03.02blankBS ISO 6196-3:1997 BSI 389 Chiswick High Road London W4 4AL BSI—BritishStandardsInstitution BSI is the independent national body responsible for preparing BritishStandards.
